Owen Stroud grew up just outside of Austin, Texas.
Outside of, mind you. He spent one part of his life commuting 25 miles down Highway 183 into town for weekly piano lessons. Now he spends the other part of his life determining whether to say he's from Austin or its piecemeal little northwest suburb called Leander. Both are true, to some extent.
Originally trained as a classical pianist, Stroud has
funneled his efforts into singing and songwriting ever since his college years at Texas A&M. After putting 100,000 miles on his car and living a few years in Missouri and Virginia, Owen has written over 200 songs drawing from his travel experiences, relationships, and artistic influences. His work blends characteristics of folk, piano ballads, and roots-rock, with a grateful nod to his Texas country heritage.
Owen Stroud now lives in Nashville, Tennessee. He released his first full album, If There Are Other Places, in February 2019.
